Denham United Ladies the Story so Far

We were formerly known as Drayton Wanderers. The team was formed in 1987 with a group of under 10 year old girls, the aim was to play organised football and in those early days we played in several leagues, such as the Enfield girls league, Thames Valley league, Junior Southern Region league.

The girls started in ladies football in 1995 gaining promotion every year and then jumping each division until 1998/99 entering The South West Women’s Combination Football League, finishing 5th two season’s running before being relegated in 2000/01.

Season 2001/02 the ladies were Champions of Southern Region Premiership and were promoted to the South East Combinational League.

During 1998/1999 the Ladies took over the Denham United facilities as the men’s team  folded and since then have introduced a large junior girls section to fully utilise the facilities and  become a Ladies/Girls only football Club.

Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, this season we are fielding 10 teams from U9’s through to two Senior teams, playing in the Home Counties Girls League (formally the Hertfordshire), the Thames Valley League Div 1, and the South East London

We have also hosted teams from around the world. We were the first English Women’s team to appear at the Dana Cup in Denmark (the largest event in Europe), with some 1,200 teams only to lose in the finals!

We rely on voluntary help from members and parent’s a like, we are a great club working to its full potential, working on scoring our future goals.
