Midday kick off for the Denham U12’s today on a wet Sunday morning. The team was away at Colne Valley and were hoping to keep up the good work after a morale boosting victory on Saturday.
The girls had a few changes in the line up with Georgia and Lauren P coming straight into the team looking to impress. The game started and possession was shared equally for the first five minutes with neither team managing to dominate. After this opening stalemate Colne Valley created the first chance of the game and duly slotted away through a mix up at the back 1-0 Colne Valley.
After this Denham started to impose themselves on the game, they created various chances through the ferocious Becks in midfield. Lauren D, Georgia and Becks herself missing great opportunities to score.
Denham went in halftime 1-0 down but had deserved better.
The second half started much the same as the first half had ended with Georgia going close straight from the whistle, Denham had there tails up now. They were creating chances at will and it was only a matter of time before an equaliser was coming. This arrived on about the 37th minute Georgia battled her way through the Colne Valley defence before finishing at the second attempt 1-1.
The girls were now level and were hoping to push on for the victory, but it was Colne Valley who straight from the restart came close to taking the lead. A run from their tall striker, who rode 3 tackles ended with a vital interception from Tarnisha at the back.
Denham continued to press and were passing and creating more chances with no reward. This changed in the 45th minute Lauren D ran on to a pass from Jenna who composed herself before smashing home an unstoppable shot 1-2 Denham.
Denham saw out the second half and were unlucky not to add further goals. A great effort by all the girls today with it being very hard to pick a player of the match, but well done to Rebecca (Becks) a tireless display in the centre of the park.
