The girls this week were at home against Molesey Juniors in what we expected to be a hard game. This was their last home game of the season before facing six away games in the upcoming months. After last weeks disappointment we all hoped for a solid performance from the girls.
Gemma returned into defence today with Calleigh moving onto the left hand side, fortunately today the girls didn’t disappoint straight from the off they battled and competed against a talented Molesey team.
An even first five minutes resulted in a Denham corner, Calleigh played it in precisely resulting in Georgia finishing with great skill 1-0 Denham. Molesey were rattled but continued to pass and probe but the girls stood up too them.
Molesey created a few half chances but were denied by Ellen on various occasions.
After 25 minutes Molesey equalised for once the girls allowed molesey too much space and were punished with a clinical finish 1-1.
The second half started with Calleigh, Georgia returning to the team after being rested first half. Molesey dominated possession second half with their always dangerous number seven running the show but could not break down the Denham defence. Becks worked her socks off in midfield breaking up the Molesey attacks.
Molesey nearly took the lead after 50minutes once again their number seven picked up the ball before running straight at the defence and was unlucky not to score hitting the post before rebounding into Ellen’s arms.
After this Calleigh dropped into defence with Gemma moving into midfield this nearly bought dividends. Gemma picked up the ball in the centre circle before taking on two molesey players she unleashed a trademark strike which was saved by the Molesey goalkeeper, in the follow up Georgia challenged the goalie before tapping in but the goal was ruled out for a foul on the goalie.
The game edged towards a draw but with barely 30 seconds left to play Denham gained reward for their hard work. The ball broke to Georgia in the box and she finished with aplomb to win the game for Denham 2-1.
Today all involved with the girls were ecstatic with the performance and result. They had earned their first league victory of the season with hard work and teamwork. Their was some outstanding individual performances with becks nearly getting player of the match but this was awarded to Georgia for her two goals and hard work. WELL DONE DENHAM U12’S . Alan & Damon and the Parents are so proud of you all that’s finish the season off with a bang.
