The final match of the season saw us need a point to clinch the premiership title and what better stage than at the den against our title rivals palace. At training we worked on our shape making sure our central midfielders stayed compact to prevent the powerfull palace midfielders from making runs. We asked the wide midfielders to tuck in and help out the defence and hopefully our football would see us through. The first halve we played well and nearly took the lead when a re-juvenated demi hit the post. We had a few half chances but the palace keeper was looking solid. Palace were on the back foot most of the half but looked dangerous on the break
Half-time 0-0
The second half we looked a very good side and once again the crossbar saved palace as annies left foot curler crashed against the bar and away to safety. The all important breakthrough came when Hannah won a 50/50 and fed ruby whose pass fell to Lauren , she easily held off the defender to smash the ball into the corner and was duly mobbed by jubilant team mates. We continued to press and Annie sealed the title with a delicious lob, it was her turn to be mobbed as the girls realised they were home and dry.the game ended and all the hard work this season had paid off. Today was a special squad performance as we made a good team look ordainary. Lily green just edged out danni stone for pom but today was not about any individual. I want to pay credit to every single player in our squad, each one has contributed this season and given 100%, we had a dodgy patch in the new year but players dug in and played themselves back into form to come good in the end, these girls are not only very good footballers but more importantly they are great kids, they show respect to the coaches, they have a laugh but when push comes to shove they produce performances when needed, the support from parents is much appreciated and a great turnout yesterday helped us along, thanks to you all.well done to palace for pushing us all the way The ref was excellent ,quietly efficient and he too enjoyed the game . The last word goes to 16 girls who are and deserve to be SURREY PREMIERSHIP U15 CHAMPIONS ,THE CLUB AND ALL US PARENTS ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL
