Denham,s day began in choas being caught in a major traffic jam on the good old m25, arriving at the hub at 1.35. the game was put back 15 minutes and denham ladies started the game as if they were still on the m25,going behind early on to a well taken goal by the tooting striker, denham in the 1st half lacked energy and were 5 yards off every player they had on the ball, and were soon 2 0 down. tooting were having all the play and to be fair were our strongest apponents so far this season. on one of our few counter attacks the ball was played out to amy murphy who finished it clinically. the plan in the dug out was to hold on to that score until half time but again denham went to sleep and tooting adding a 3rd. in the dressing room at half time there was a few home truth,s spoken, and alot of the players had there say. sadie hussain replaced alice candy. the last words said in the dressing room was that everybody in the team had to stand up and be counted.
second half: denham began alot brighter as the rain hailed down and danielle maton reduced the deficit to 1 goal with a fine back post header from a corner to make it 3 2. still denham pressed and soon after lauren cox finished in style to make it 3 3 getting us back in the game. (keeper) jess devoti at to be at her sharpest as tooting were still giving us lots of trouble.and towards the end probably seemed the more likely to score, denham ended the game with 5 at the back which just about shows you how much respect we showed them. credit to sian mccrindle and leigh barlow who came on and made themselves present in a very hard match, and sadie hussain who run her heart out for the team.
from the dug out
manager terry maton said that took a bad day at the office to another level, but im proud of my players commitment throughout the game there desire to dig in and in the end gained a vaulable point. well done girls i hope that until the end of the season we dont play that bad in the first 45 minutes. go denham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
